Investment Associate (Credit)

We are seeking an Investment Associate that will join our rapidly growing team and report directly to the CIO.  Our strategy involves investments across industries in consumer, small business, and real estate segments which means that there is never a dull day on the investment team!  This is a hybrid remote/in-office role that requires at least 2 days/week in our Manhattan Beach, CA offices.

Who you are

  • You have demonstrative experience organizing and distilling quantitative information and clearly communicate the results of your analysis

  • You have 3+ years of prior modeling experience such as risk-measurement and investment evaluation, ideally in an investment company or similar financial role

  • You want to work in a small team where initiative, multi-tasking, and creativity are keys to success

  • You have strong quantitative skills & mentality (you think in spreadsheet) 

  • You are interested in working on a broad variety of analytical projects from market research to portfolio analysis to manager risk management

  • You are interested in constantly improving tools, processes, and models 

  • You’re highly proficient in Microsoft Excel modeling such as building expected default curves

  • You are effective at communicating and summarizing ideas in words and pictures 

  • You have an unrelenting intellectual curiosity about investments, research and the alternative investment industry

  • You have a BS in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or in the hard sciences 

What you'll do

  • Assist in the selection, evaluation, and on-going monitoring of credit investments as a key member of the investment team

  • Own both ad hoc and ongoing processes around portfolio reporting & deal review

  • Develop and maintain statistical & predictive financial models to better inform our broader investment parameters (i.e., yield curves and cohort analysis)

  • Create and leverage quantitative tools to answer specific risk, performance, or regulatory questions needed by the investment team, IR, or Operations

  • Own periodic performance and risk reporting at the deal, portfolio, and company levels

  • Maintain performance & risk metrics such as default rates, NAV calculations, and future cash flow projections

  • Deliver client-ready investment memos, research reports, and other analyses
