Overview

Pier Asset Management LLC, founded in 2017, is a boutique investment firm based in Los Angeles that specializes in specialty finance.  The firm manages funds focused specifically on special opportunities while acting as a liquidity provider in the alternative credit space.  Our typical investors are wealth managers, fund of funds, foundations, and high net worth individuals.

Every team member plays a critical role in the firm’s success and has direct interaction with the principals, clients, and deal counterparties. We are a flat and entrepreneurial team, and we love what we do.

The Role

We are seeking a Business Development Associate to support and advance Pier’s investor engagement and capital-raising efforts.  This high impact position is primarily responsible for day‑to‑day investor relations activity including sourcing and managing an investor pipeline alongside the CEO, Jillian Murrish.  The successful candidate will also play a key role in standing up the Investor Relations and Marketing functions and delivering an exceptional investor experience.  

Who you are

  • You have successful experience in a sales-based position with financial products whose revenue scales linearly.  Some examples include roles in Investment Advisory, Private Banking, Lending, Insurance, and Trust/Estate Advisory firms.
  • You have impeccable written and verbal communications and a comfort interfacing with high net worth and institutional clients.
  • You have some experience producing client-ready investor materials.
  • You’re a lifelong learner that is always looking to leverage technology and process to support the work that you do.
  • You are a “smart creative” that thrives entrepreneurial, high agency, environments.  

What you’ll do

  • Fundraising & New Investor Acquisition.
  • Lead targeted outreach to prospective LPs and referral sources to drive new capital commitments.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects, coordinating meetings and pitch activities with senior leadership.
  • Plan, coordinate, and support investor events, webinars, podcast appearances, industry conferences, and LP meetings.
  • Represent Pier externally in investor meetings and networking forums as appropriate.
  • Track and report on fundraising progress, pipelines, and conversion metrics.
  • Existing Investor Relationship Management
  • Cultivate long‑term LP relationships, including organizing check‑ins, strategic communications, personalized engagement, and perform existing client outreach for new fund or co-investment products.
  • Assist in the preparation of regular updates, performance reports, and bespoke communication for LP stakeholders.
  • Communications & Marketing Materials.
  • Partner with the investment team, compliance, and operations to draft, edit, and maintain investor and marketing content.
  • Manage investor due diligence questionnaires (DDQs), requests for proposals (RFPs), Data Rooms, and other investor documentation.
  • Strategic & Operational Support.
  • Participate in strategic planning to identify investor cohorts, develop financial products, and refine market positioning.
  • Standardize and document high standard investor relations processes and workflows.
