Vice President - Investments (Private Credit)

Overview

Pier Asset Management invests capital opportunistically on behalf of its clients into debt deals in the specialty finance space. The firm primarily issues senior secured credit facilities to lenders who use the capital to originate loans and purchases loan portfolios in the secondary market from stressed sellers.  

The Role

We are seeking an Vice President - Investments  (Private Credit) that will join our rapidly growing team and report directly to the CIO.  The candidate will work in every stage of the private credit investment cycle.  These investments will primarily be $5m-$25m short-term credit facilities with a closing timeline of about two months. 

Our active investing model and small team requires ideal candidates to work efficiently, collaboratively, and with a high degree of autonomy.  

Who you are

  • 5 -10 years of professional experience, ideally in specialty finance, private credit, direct lending, structured finance, or investment banking
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail
  • A clear passion for working at an investment manager
  • Equally at ease in a spreadsheet, legal document, opportunity memo, or on a closing call
  • Goal oriented
  • Excited by the autonomy provided by being on the ground floor of a rapidly growing business 
  • Able to solve problems to move deals forward
  • Able to help contribute to building repeatable and scalable investment processes
  • Use technology as a force multiplier

What you’ll do

  • Interface directly with borrower counterparties to underwrite and come to terms on potential investment opportunities
  • Perform qualitative analysis on potential investment opportunities such as cash flow modeling, yield curves, and assessing various risk scenarios
  • Engage in all aspects of investment and operational due diligence
  • Prepare investment memos with a clear narrative and relevant reporting and analysis
  • Participate in transaction closing, which includes coordinating legal documentation and funding 
  • Oversee existing portfolio positions including reviewing draw requests, monitoring covenants, maintaining valuation models, and producing other reporting
  • Participate in sourcing of new opportunities
