Somepeople divide their lives into clear categories. Others seem to live in onecontinuous thread. Watching Olympian skier Eileen Gu, I’m struck by how integrated her life appears to be. Athlete, student, public figure, it all seems to flow together rather than exist in separate lanes.
I’ve never fully connected with the phrase “work/life balance.” It suggests two competing categories. Mother over here, CEO over there. In my own experience, I perform better when those roles reinforce each other.
I’m building my family and building Pier at the same time. There hasn’t been a clean division between the two. Instead of competing for time and energy, the roles compound. I’m a better leader because I’m a mother. I’m a better mother because I’m building something meaningful.
With Eileen, you get the sense that skiing, studying, and speaking publicly are expressions of the same foundation. It follows her into every room.
Harmony over balance.

Trythe Claude for Excel plugin. Thank me later.
Have it audit an existing complex spreadsheet. Review, then have it fix anything worth fixing.
Have it do work across multiple tabs. Have it define names, format, optimize formulas, and expand on your limitations.
Then, have it start from scratch. Have it build you a DCF. A financial model. Give it data to analyze. Let it run free.
It's not super fast yet and it does make mistakes (have it check its own work), but you can work on other apps while it's running in the background. And, you can watch it work.
The world has changed for the better, my friends. I've been using Excel for work for 25 years and this is the biggest lift to Excel users since its invention.

Specialty finance is a non-traditional often asset-backed, lending sector that provides tailored capital to businesses and consumers underserved by conventional banks. It focuses on secured, high-yield, and niche lending—such as equipment leasing, accounts receivable, or consumer loans—using specific collateral rather than general credit history.
